Emily-Anne Rigal
Emily-Anne Rigal is one of many teen activists trying to make the world a better place. As a child, Emily-Anne was bullied. She wanted to make sure no one had to go through a bad experience like the one she went through. When Emily-Anne created WeStopHate, a program to raise the “teen-esteem” of teenagers that have been bullied, she was hoped to change the lives of at least some teens across the country-but, she was not expecting to be so helpful to teens that she would receive the great honor of receiving a Nickelodean Halo Award.
As a child in elementary school, Emily-Anne Rigal was bullied. In a phone interview, Emily-Anne said, “I was bullied so bad I had to switch schools.” This is an example of how much bullying can affect someone’s life. As a result of her being bullied, Emily-Anne created WeStopHate. WeStopHate is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the “teen-esteem” of teenagers. This help is through various social media platforms that encourage teenagers to help each other gain confidence in one another. For more information on WeStopHate, you can visit www.westophate.org.
Emily-Anne
Rigal was originally just a girl who wanted to make the world a better place.
Now, through hard work and faith in herself, she is changing the live of
millions of people. Just being someone’s friend if they are bullied can change
their lives. As Cecil Beaton the photographer said, “Be daring, be different,
be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative
vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the common place, the
slaves of the ordinary.” What this means is, even if you are made fun of or
bullied for it, BE YOURSELF-as
Emily-Anne Rigal is doing right now, If you see someone being bullied, help
them out, and be a friend. And do not let them change the daring, different, or
impractical person they are.
